Dario Argento's Horror Movie Soundtrack

Ciao! Ragazzi!

Dario Argento was born on September 7, 1940, is an Italian film director, producer and screenwriter. He is best known for his work in the horror film genre, particularly in the subgenre known as giallo, and for his influence on modern horror and slasher movies. (From Wikipedia)

Goblin (band)
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Goblin are an Italian progressive rock band known for their soundtracks  for Dario Argento films (including Deep Red  of 1975, also known as Profondo Rosso, and Suspiria of 1977).
Dario e Asia Argento
Negli anni '80, parallelamente alla sua carriera di regista, Argento produce e scrive anche film con suoi amici registi: Zombi di George A. Romero, Demoni e Demoni 2: L'incubo ritorna di Lamberto Bava, La chiesa e La setta di Michele Soavi e M.D.C. - Maschera di cera di Sergio Stivaletti.
Nel 1987 Argento dirige Opera un film problematico che subì diversi ritardi di produzione dovuti a problemi tecnici, all'abbandono del set da parte di Giuliana De Sio che nel film doveva essere la protagonista; nello stesso periodo muore suo padre Salvatore, produttore dei suoi primi film, e partecipa ancher come ospite fisso alla trasmissione televisiva "Giallo" condotta da Enzo Tortora: in un suo spazio all'interno della trasmissione Argento racconta i retroscena dei suoi film, svela alcuni trucchi e dirige piccoli cortometraggi i cui protagonisti sono i telespettatori che scrivono da casa per partecipare. Nonostante i cortometraggi durano pochissimo, alcuni di essi sollevano polemiche da parte dei telespettatori più sensibili, disturbati dalle scene più cruente. Nel 1991 dirige Due occhi diabolici un film diviso in due episodi, uno diretto da lui e l'altro da RomeroTrauma, sempre negli USA, in cui recita sua figlia Asia Argento che sarà anche la protagonista dei successivi La sindrome di Stendhal e Il fantasma dell'opera. Il suo ultimo film è Non ho sonno.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Complete Original Motion Picture Sound Track

Tenebrae is the soundtrack to Dario Argento's film of the same title, first released as an album in 1982, and reissued most recently in 2004 with multiple bonus tracks. The score was composed and performed by three former members of the defunct rock group, Goblin, who briefly reunited at the request of the film's director. Although the movie itself credits the score to "Simonetti-Pignatelli-Morante", the soundtrack album is credited to "Simonetti-Morante-Pignatelli".
In 2007, Tenebre, the first track, was sampled by French electronic music duo Justice, in the album †, in the songs Phantom and Phantom Pt. II.

Plot synopsis
An anorexic young woman escapes from a psychiatric hospital and meets a young man who wants to help. She is caught and returned to her parents, who are soon beheaded by a mysterious serial killer who murders his victims with a home-made garrote device, the 'noose-o-matic', apparently striking only when it rains. The orphaned young woman and her new lover launch their own investigation and are endangered when a link is discovered with the victims and a particular operation performed years before.

La Sindrome Di Stendhal (1996)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
La sindrome di Stendhal, detta anche sindrome di Firenze, è il nome di una affezione psicosomatica che provoca tachicardia, capogiro, vertigini, confusione e anche allucinazioni in soggetti messi al cospetto di opere d'arte di straordinaria bellezza, specialmente se sono compresse in spazi limitati.
La sindrome di Stendhal è un thriller psicologico-horror del 1996, diretto da Dario Argento e da lui scritto con l'abituale collaboratore Franco Ferrini. Del cast fanno parte la figlia Asia, Thomas Kretschmann, Marco Leonardi, Luigi Diberti e, in una breve partecipazione, Paolo Bonacelli. La colonna sonora è di Ennio Morricone, che per Argento ha già composto le musiche per la Trilogia degli animali, mentre la fotografia è del noto direttore della fotografia italiano Giuseppe Rotunno.
La poliziotta Anna Manni (Asia Argento)
La Sindrome di Stendhal (1996) ~ La poliziotta Anna Manni
La poliziotta Anna Manni (Asia Argento), della squadra romana antistupro, viene mandata dal suo superiore Manetti (Luigi Diberti) da Roma a Firenze per trovare un pericoloso serial killer che ha già stuprato e ucciso molte donne. Alla galleria degli Uffizi la ragazza sviene davanti a un'opera di Bruegel in preda alla Sindrome di Stendhal. È un ragazzo biondo, Alfredo (Thomas Kretschmann), a prestare soccorso per primo ad Anna. In realtà questi non è altri che il maniaco omicida: in seguito infatti s'introduce nell'albergo dove la detective alloggia e la violenta. Anna si risveglia in una macchina, dove lo psicopatico violenta e uccide un'altra vittima. Anna riesce però a fuggire e viene ritrovata dai colleghi. Il trauma subito pare non scomparire dalla sua mente e Manetti le consiglia di rivolgersi ad uno psichiatra, Cavanna (Paolo Bonacelli). A casa la ragazza riceve la visita di Marco (Marco Leonardi), il suo fidanzato, che è preoccupato per lei e le mette le mani addosso, ma Anna, ancora scioccata, lo respinge. Nel frattempo l'assassino trova un'altra vittima, la commessa di un negozio che, ignara, si fa sedurre da lui e viene uccisa. Anna poi racconta a Cavanna di avere dei gravi problemi e di essere masochista, quindi il dottore le consiglia di tornare da suo padre (John Quentin) e dai suoi fratelli a Viterbo, dov'è nata. Lì lei ha un flashback sulla sua infanzia e su sua madre, prematuramente scomparsa, ma anche a Viterbo Alfredo la raggiunge e la cattura nuovamente. Anna si risveglia vicino a una cascata, ma stavolta riesce a vendicarsi e ferisce a morte l'aggressore, che cade in acqua. Tuttavia le ricerche della polizia non hanno alcuna svolta: il corpo dell'uomo non viene rinvenuto. Intanto Anna torna a Roma, dove incontra un ragazzo francese, Marie (Julien Lambroschini), con il quale vive una storia d'amore. Ma l'ombra di Alfredo perseguita Anna che, entrata in uno stato di sdoppiamento della personalità, uccide sia lui che Cavanna. Marco scopre tutto, ma fa anche lui la stessa fine. Il film termina con la poliziotta che, scesa per strada, è ritrovata dai colleghi.
The Stendhal Syndrome is 1996 Italian Horror film, written and directed by Dario Argento and starring his daughter Asia Argento. It was the first Italian film to use computer-generated imagery (CGI). Stendhal Syndrome is a real syndrome, first diagnosed in Florence, Italy in 1982. It is named after the French writer Marie-Henri Beyle, who wrote under the nom de plume Stendhal and reportedly experienced like symptoms in 1817. The director, Dario Argento, said he experienced Stendhal syndrome as a child. While touring Athens with his parents young Dario was climbing the steps of the Parthenon when he was overcome by a trance that caused him to become lost from his parents for hours. The experience was so strong that Argento never forgot it and immediately thought of it when he came across Magherini's book, which would become the basis of the film. The film was a large Box Office hit when released in Italy grossing 5,443,000,000 Italian Lira ($3,809,977) Argento's highest grossing film in his native country.
Plot:
Detective Anna Manni (Asia Argento) travels to Florence on the trail of a serial killer (Thomas Kretschmann). While at a museum, Anna is struck by the Stendhal Syndrome, which causes people to become overwhelmed by great works of art. The killer uses this disorder against Anna, kidnapping and raping her. She escapes, but is deeply traumatized. She eventually finds redemption and a whole new perspective to life.
BACKSTAGE 002
TRANSYLVANIA, 1893.
 One night in the woods adjacent to Passo Borgo, at the foot of the Carpazi mountains, a couple of young lovers, Tania and Milos, secretly meet.  On her way home, Tania is chased and overcome by a "dark shadow" that kills her. In those days Jonathan Harker, a young librarian, arrives at the village hired by
Count Dracula, a nobleman from the area. Tania's body mysteriously disappears from the cemetery.  In the meantime Harker, before going to Count Dracula's castle, takes the opportunity to visit Lucy Kisslinger, his wife Mina's best friend as well as the daughter of the local mayor.
 Upon arriving at the castle, Harker is greeted by Tania, brought back to life from the dead and made vampire, who tries from the very beginning to seduce him; however they are interrupted by Dracula's entrance welcoming Harker. The following night Tania tries again to bite Harker, she is close to his neck when she is stopped by the count who gets the upper hand and it is he himself who bites Harker's neck, however allowing him to live. The following day, weakened but still conscious Harker attempts to escape, but as soon as he is outside the castle a large wolf with a white lock assaults and savagely kills him.
Meanwhile, Mina, Harker's wife, arrives in the village and is guest for a few days at the home of her dearest friend Lucy Kisslinger, who will also be bitten and vampirized. The day after, Mina, worried about her husband, goes to Count Dracula's castle. Their encounter makes her forget the reason for her presence there. She is completely under the count's influence; the count  had orchestrated the events leading up to their encounter; in fact Mina looks exactly like his beloved Dolinger, who died some centuries ago. Upon her return to the Kisslinger house, Mina learns of the death of her dear friend Lucy. The sequence of such strange and dramatic events summons the aid of Van Helsing, vampire expert of the techniques used to eliminate them.  Van Helsing, aware of the circumstances decides to act swiftly and prepares the tools needed to combat vampires.  He directs himself to the center of evil, Count Dracula's castle.
Meanwhile Dracula, in the village, kills the inhabitants who rescinded their pact, while Van Helsing, inside the castle, is able to definitively eliminate Tania.  Dracula, intent on his desire to reunite with his beloved wife, leads Mina, completely hypnotized, to the castle where Van Helsing is waiting. He  has decided to engage in a deadly fight  with his evil foe.  During the struggle Van Helsing loses his gun with the silver bullet and Mina, still under Dracula's spell, gathers it and tries to aid Dracula, but she misses the target and involuntarily kills him. The special silver bullet transforms Dracula into ashes; but his spirit lifts the ashes into the air and uniting, they shape into a large bat with a mocking grin...
